REVIEW (In Lithuanian):
A human being in a shadow of theatrical impression
"It seems that this generation of directors draws inspiration for their performances from the stylistics that emerged on the stages of Western Europe (especially Germany): massive and aesthetic set design, expanding the space or transferring a part of the action to video projections, detached acting, etc. The latter being the most pronounced in the works of U. Bartoševičiūtė and A. Gornatkevičius - directors who aimed to create events in which the audience would feel part of the evening. This is a difficult and risky path, which, if successful, leads the audience to unique and special experiences.
This time, most of the performances highlighted issues of feminism and gender roles, which are inevitably based on a consumerist society and the pandering to its constructs. It is interesting to observe analyses of similar themes in different contexts: the family, the entertainment business, mass parties, elite circles, etc.
The interest in feminism and gender roles will probably eventually lead to a more in-depth analysis of the themes and the need to portray more poignant, uncomfortable situations than those discovered and embodied so far."
